Mark Swindon has been providing expert Opal and Gemstone cutting from his Adelaide base for the past 25 years and today is widely recognised for his quality craftsmanship.
Mark became interested in the art of Opal and Gemstone cutting way back when as a Pilot with the Flying Doctor, servicing Outback towns such as Andamooka and Coober Pedy, he would meet with many Opal Miners who were happy to share stories of their experiences.
On several of these trips Mark became friends with an experienced Opal cutter and from there started developing his talents for cutting and polishing and learning skills of the Opal business.
The art of Watch Dial making came about with requests from
an English Firm approximately 15 years ago, who were after Opal Watch blanks, today Mark is creating Watch Dials with day and date windows, dials with diamonds inserted and using a variety of high quality gemstones.
Mark works on his own and loves his Dial making, his wife Daphne does the book work and Clancy the Kelpie keeps a close watch on the workshop.
